Ayurveda is the health system that is the sister science to Yoga. Ayurveda means the ‘science of life’ and has been around for about 5000 years. It is the only health system on earth that recognises every human as unique and hence require individual diet, health and lifestyle practices.
In Ayurveda there are three distinct energies or forces in the body called doshas.
Vata is responsible for all movement.
Pitta is responsible for food digestion, conversion into body tissues and regulation of body temperature.
Kapha builds the body, giving form and structure.
We have all three in varying amounts – usually with one or two predominating. It is the dominant doshas which identifies an individual’s body type.
An Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultation establishes your body type - your biological, physical and psychological makeup. Once this has been determined we can then recommend a diet and lifestyle routine that will keep you body balanced.
Food is our bodies form or nourishment, so time is spent on looking at what, when an how you eat. Dietary modifications suggested are easy to implement and we adapt to your lifestyle, requiring minimal expense and change. Ayurveda recommends a daily routine that is simple and extremely effective.
